This week while CR's been gone, we've stayed at my parent's house. Stayed meaning that we spent the night, played/swam in the morning (or went to VBS one day) and then at 1pm when it was abby's nap time, I drove home so she would take a nap. Then drive back to mom and dad's for dinner.
On Friday as she got in the car to go home for nap time, she put on her bike helmet and sunglasses and got in the car. We stopped at Shorty's on the way so mommy could get some food since we are seriously short on groceries from being semi-gone. Anyway, @ Shorty's everyone was smiling and talking to abby cause she was so cute - I guess I don't even pay attention anymore to her little quirky dress ups, so I started to get a little paranoid about what everyone was looking at...anyway, the point was that the whole way home and when we got home I took this pict of her cause she's just that cute!
So, I laid her down for her nap and I heard her coughing over the monitor. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when I went in to check on her because she still wasn't asleep, I realized she had thrown up in her crib. Not a ton, but it worried me. So, I get her and everything in the crib out, put her in the tub, pinkie, blanket, monkey, etc in the wash and call my mom and dad to come over and help me. They showed up a few hours later - mom gave abby another bath and we realized she started acting like her throat was bothering her. Motrin dose later and we headed into town for dinner. Halfway to town the real vomit filled fireworks started so we turned around and headed back home, dad trying not to gag and driving 80 with the windows cracked to lessen the smell. Since my gag reflex is on overdive, it seemed to be true that when it's your kid, it just doesn't make you sick when they get sick.
At this point, things went down hill really fast. Abby didn't want to be put down, and couldn't even hold her head up. When I finally took her temp, it read 105!! I called the Dr's office and the answering service even asked me if I had taken her to the ER...I was like, "no, but I guess I will". So, in the car we all go - it was 10:30 by this time. Poor chris is having to get the play by play from me and dad as we head in to town...the Medical Center ER is an interesting place I am sure at any hour, but at 11-1am on a Sat/Sun it was a new and hope to never be repeated again experience. I thought getting in and out in two hours was pretty good though. The nurse that helped us said that he had a repeat customer who'd already been in 5 times that week - some people love to be sick, but those people don't have an almost 2 yr old. Anyway, no strep, LOTS of fever reducing meds and a fitful sleep, abby hung in all day but really perked up when Chris got home. Yeay!! WE really love and missed him. She held his hand and led him all over the house when he got here. Mom and Dad finally left a few hours after Chris got here and mom said she fell asleep in teh car on the way home - it was her first sleep in almost 24 hours! I am very thankful Abby's fever has broken, Chris is home, and that I have parents who are always there for me when I need them - for whatever I need.
